Martini Movie Night
Join us for a viewing of the 1957 romantic comedy musical film Funny Face, a film directed by Stanley Donen and starring Audrey Hepburn, Fred Astaire, and Kay Thompson.
Maggie Prescott (Kay Thompson) is a fashion magazine publisher and editor who sends fashion photographer Dick Avery (Fred Astaire) on a quest to find a new face for the magazine, one that is both “beautiful” and “intellectual.” Dick decides to search bookstores in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan, where he happens upon Jo Stockton (Audrey Hepburn), a shy bookshop clerk and amateur philosopher. Believing her to be the perfect fit for the magazine’s new trend, he convinces Jo to model in exchange for a trip to Paris to meet her favorite philosopher, Emile Flostre (Michael Auclair) . . . but, upon their arrival, Jo finds out that the fashion gala and the philosophy lecture are scheduled for the same night.
