Ordering Images and Requesting Reproduction Rights:
The Boston Athenaeum requires all requests for the acquisition and/or reproduction of images from its collection be made in writing. Requests are considered on a case-by-case basis, and given at the discretion of the Boston Athenaeum.

When a request is approved, our Permission Form will be sent for you to sign, along with an invoice where fees are involved. Pre-payment is required. Both the signed Permission Form and payment of the invoice must be received before images are sent to you or reproduction rights granted. Payments may be made by check or money order, in U.S. dollars, drawn on a U.S. bank; by credit card, Visa or MasterCard; or by wire transfer.

Fees:
Fees are charged for the purchase or rental of prints, transparencies and digital images. Additional fees are charged to reproduce an image. These fees are based on the nature of the use. A quote will be made to you upon receipt of a completed request form.

Charges for shipping and handling, new photography, rush orders, and the late return of transparencies apply to some orders.

Time:
After the initial processing of an order, the time to complete a transaction varies with the nature of the order.
