Judy Carmichael

An Evening of Stride Piano: The Great American Songbook, Peggy Lee, Fats Waller, Gershwin, and Others

Grammy-nominated pianist Judy Carmichael is one of the world’s leading interpreters of stride piano and swing. Count Basie nicknamed her “Stride”, acknowledging the command with which she plays this technically and physically demanding jazz piano style. Judy’s newly released CD “I Love Being Here With You” is her first all-vocal CD, exploring her love of witty lyrics, juicy ballads and Broadway Standards.

A native of California, Judy Carmichael moved to New York in the early 80’s and has maintained a busy concert schedule throughout the world ever since. She has toured for the U.S. State Department throughout Australia, India, Portugal, Brazil and Singapore. In 1992, Carmichael was the first jazz musician sponsored by the United States Government to tour China.

Registration for this event will begin on October 20 at 9:00 a.m. Please note that registration closes on Friday, October 30 at 9:00 a.m. The Events Department will not be able to accommodate registrations after that time.
