Members 21+ are invited to the third annual Let's Get Spirited Tasting Event at the Boston Athenæum.

Every December, the Boston Athenæum likes to get festive by throwing a Spirit Tasting. We invite local distilleries such as Bully Boy, Short Path Distillery, and GrandTen Distilling to serve samples and discuss their creations with members and their guests. In accompaniment, we serve cheeses, appetizers, and sweets with wine and beer available as well.

Bully Boy is Boston's first craft distillery hand producing premium spirits. Bully Boy Distillers is owned and operated by brothers Will and Dave Willis, who were inspired by their childhood home and fourth-generation working family farm. During prohibition the farm was home to an enviable collection of local artisan spirits, which were stored in a vault in the farmhouse basement. As homage to the farm, the distillery is named after Bully Boy, a favorite farm workhorse.

By combining old-world distilling techniques with a new-world, chemistry-based approach to spirit development, Short Path Distillery marries the art of distilling with the science of taste — and creating unique spirits that represent the best of both worlds. The distillery uses locally sourced and organic ingredients wherever possible to reflect their commitment to their community and their customers. Boston’s rich history and its embrace of innovation serve as inspiration for Short Path’s products.
