Eye of the Expert

An Evening of Mystery and Mayhem

Discover the stories of mystery and mayhem lurking in the Boston Athenæum's special collections! Get up close with artworks and rare materials as members of our expert staff divulge the fascinating stories behind them, including why they are historically important, and how and why they are in the Athenæum's collections.

Our program will be presented by Stanley Ellis Cushing, Anne C. and David J. Bromer Curator of Rare Books and Manuscripts; David Dearinger, Susan Morse Hilles Curator of Paintings and Sculpture; Will Evans, Chief Rare Materials Catalog Librarian; and Catharina Slautterback, Curator of Prints and Photographs.

Elizabeth E. Barker, Stanford Calderwood Director, will conclude the program with a response to all four presentations followed by discussion over wine and light hors d'oeuvres in the Gordon Reading Room.

Space is limited to 12.
