Member's Choice: Finding Your Voice: Women and Girls at the Athenæum

Dani Crickman and Judy Gates

Join Children's and Young Adult Services Librarian Dani Crickman and Athenæum docent Judy Gates as they explore the role of women in the Boston Athenaeum from Athena right through the present day. When and how did women get access to the library resources? When did they use their voices to become active in the library itself? What resources focused on women’s empowerment does the Athenaeum have to offer now?

They will also explore ideas about how women and girls can lift up their voices today:  practical ideas from voice teachers, advice about how to speak with authority, historical vignettes about women, and book suggestions for young readers.

To register, follow the registration button on the right. If you would prefer your information to pre-populate, log in to your My Athenæum Profile. To log in to your My Athenæum Profile click on the profile icon found in the upper right corner of each page on our website.

If you do not yet have a profile, select “New User? Create an account” on the Profile Login page. Members create their own accounts; a username and password are not assigned when you join the Athenæum.
