After-School Read Aloud
Children age 5 and up engage with longer picture books and short chapter books during a book-focused story time. Children continue to reap the benefits of being read to aloud in a casual social setting, with built-in opportunities to question, reflect, and make connections. Reading to children aloud enables them to expand their vocabulary, gain exposure to new types of stories, and improve their long-term reading success, even as they begin to read on their own.
