Member’s Choice: Great Caesar
Independent scholar and businessman Robert Strassler is the editor of the Landmark series of ancient historians. Five works have been published, which are widely acclaimed for making ancient Greek historians and the Commentaries of Julius Caesar accessible to modern readers through careful and thorough annotation and an imaginative format which includes, among other things, clear illustrative maps. Join him for a presentation on The Landmark Julius Caesar: The Complete Works. Strassler will discuss the historical Caesar compared to the Caesar most Americans know, that is, the Caesar of Shakespeare’s play. And he will demonstrate how truly outstanding Caesar was, from his extraordinary military skills to his powers as a writer, politician, and mathematician.
