Virtual Event: Curator's Choice: Venice Reflections

Ponder the moments of beauty that have emerged out of the intersections between the digital and physical worlds we all inhabit with Curator of Rare Books & Head of Special Collections Dr. John Buchtel. Following up on last year's installation Ecco Venezia! | Behold Venice! Dr Buchtel will provide a virtual tour of the subsequently acquired artist's book Venice Reflections (2019). The magnificent folio's vivid inkjet prints were produced from digital paintings by British artist Leslie Gerry. They provide visually arresting accompaniments to extracts from Jan Morris's Venice, described by the Sunday Times as “The best book about Venice ever written.” Morris's original corrected typescript for Venice is also part of the Boston Athenæum's collections.
