IN-PERSON PRESENTATION: A Celebration of Veterans
with Ginny Badgett
Join Dr. Ginny Badgett and the Boston Athenæum in saluting our veterans. Through this interactive show & tell, Dr. Badgett will highlight military history within the Boston Athenæum’s Special Collections. Beginning with Generals Washington and Knox through World War II, Dr. Badgett will showcase a selection of fine art, posters, prints, and other materials that speak to and depict the servicemembers of the United States Armed Forces.
Join us in honoring the people in our community who have served, as well as their families.
Virginia “Ginny” Reynolds Badgett, Ph.D. joined the Boston Athenæum as Assistant Curator of Special Collections in January 2020. She is an interdisciplinary scholar of American art, history, and material culture of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Badgett received her Ph.D. in the History of Art and Architecture from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2021. Prior to joining the BA, she was the Provenance Research Fellow at the Birmingham Museum of Art in Alabama and previously held curatorial positions at Winterthur’s Boston Furniture Archive, the Detroit Institute of Arts, James Madison’s Montpelier, and the British Museum.
This event is part of our four-part series, "Curator's Choice." Join an Athenæum curator for a conversation about their current projects and the special collections items that inspire them, spark their curiousity, and generate discussion.
