IN-PERSON PRESENTATION: Curator's Choice: Constantine Manos: Where’s Boston? 1976
with Lauren Graves
Join Dr. Lauren Graves in exploring Constantine Manos’s 1976 photographic portfolio The Bostonians. The prints, originally commissioned for the exhibition Where’s Boston?, a years-long interactive exhibit that celebrated Boston at the bicentennial, present an intimate and varied portrait of the city. Describing this assignment as a “dizzying odyssey,” Manos focused his camera to reveal Boston’s architecture - old and new, people - young and old, and traditions - shared and unique. In reviewing the multiple iterations of the photographs – as exhibited together and explored singularly - The Bostonians will take us on a journey through the dynamic streets of Boston in the 1970s.
This event is part of our "Curator's Choice" series. Join an Athenæum curator for a casual conversation about their current projects and the special collections items that inspire them.
