VIRTUAL PRESENTATION: Eye of the Expert: Build Boston
with Dan Axmacher, Lauren Graves, and Carolle Morini
Join Dan Axmacher, Lauren Graves, and Carolle Morini for a discussion of Boston’s built environment, from the Boston Athenaeum’s own home at 10½ Beacon Street to the city’s transit system and urban renewal projects. Each presenter will share materials from the BA’s Special Collections, including photographs, posters, and archival materials.
Dan Axmacher is a rare materials catalog librarian, focusing primarily on rare books and collections of manuscript materials. He holds a master’s degree in library and information science, and a master’s degree in history from Simmons University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in classical languages from the College of Wooster (Wooster, Ohio).
Lauren Graves is the Polly Thayer Starr Curatorial Fellow of American Art and Culture. Lauren received a PhD in art history from Boston University, a MA in art history from Temple University, and a BA in art history from the University of Rochester.
Carolle Morini is Caroline D. Bain Archivist and Reference Librarian at the Boston Athenæum. She manages the institutional archive, including selecting materials to save, making materials available to researchers, and interpreting them in exhibitions and programs. She holds a MA in history with a concentration in early American poetry and a MLS with a concentration in archives management from Simmons College. She earned her BFA in photography at Montserrat College of Art. Prior to joining the staff of the Boston Athenæum in 2007, Morini worked in libraries and archives of other area cultural institutions, including the Massachusetts Historical Society and the Peabody Essex Museum.
