Members* of the Boston Athenæum are eligible to enjoy free or discounted admission to over 850 arts and cultural institutions throughout North America through the Athenæum’s participation in two associations:
- North American Reciprocal Museum Association (NARM)
- Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM)
How do I take advantage of this benefit?
Contact the membership office at 617-720-7604 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a NARM/ROAM card, which will display your name, membership expiration date, and the NARM and ROAM logos. Boston Athenaeum members must present this card when visiting these reciprocal institutions. Members are encouraged to request their NARM/ROAM card at least two weeks prior to their visit to allow for USPS delivery.
Where can I go?
For complete – and often growing – lists of the participating institutions, please visit the NARM and ROAM websites.
These lists are subject to change and members are always encouraged to consult the NARM and ROAM listings shortly before planning a visit.
By how much is the admission discounted?
With your NARM/ROAM card you should be eligible to purchase admission tickets at whatever price the institution charges its own members.
What about any guests that may accompany me to one of the participating institutions?
Most institutions only offer free or reduced admission to the individual carrying a card bearing the NARM and/or ROAM logo. However, every institution's policies are different so always ask.
What about other benefits like discounts on gift shop and food purchases, event tickets, and parking?
Some participating institutions do extend these benefits to NARM and/or ROAM members. For complete details on all discounts, contact the participating institution prior to your visit or ask while you are on-site.
*Due to limitations imposed by both NARM and ROAM, some guest, discounted, and complimentary members are not automatically eligible for this benefit.
